VISITING POTOMAC SCHOOL NATURALIST
Mrs. Hicks' 4th graders and Mrs. Schmill's 5th graders are participating in the Visiting Naturalist in Schools Program for the 2005-06 school year. Our naturalist is Lisa Moore from the Natural History Center.
The students will be given the opportunity to explore the world through the eyes of a naturalist. A naturalist is someone who studies nature through observation. Being a naturalist is a multidisciplinary task; art, writing and science are each used to better observe nature. During the first visit, our students were introduced to being a naturalist by identifying some of the tools of a naturalist and exploring their own observation skills.
The naturalist will visit our students once a month and that will include 2 field trips. The dates for our Visiting Naturalist are: Oct. 4th, Nov. 1st, Dec. 6th, Jan. 3rd , Feb. 7th(field trip), Mar. 7th, April 4th, and May 2nd(field trip).
We are excited for our students to participate in this program and learn more about the fauna and flora of Montana.
