We were most fortunate to have enjoyed many delightful years wth Raven. She had four litters in her time -- by that her off-spring are with us now, and will be for many years to come. February 97' she was sprawled on the bed watching as Nelly gave birth to her great-great-great-great-grand pups. She was a fantastic swimmer, clever about sneaking food off the stove, nose into the garbage at every opportunity. She was the "Queen" of the couch.

Raven had such expressive eyes it almost seemed she was about to speak to us. When she didn't like something, she could give "dirty looks" like no other labrador could. Her bark was funny... a couple of short "Woo Woo's" and you always knew who shared your company!

The decision to avoid her having any discomfort, as age brought a heart condition, was extremely difficult. Because for all the joy she brought, her leaving had to be before she suffered in any way. Raven's last day was spent frolicing in the waters of Puget Sound where she first went swimming some eleven years earlier. Raven had one last final glorious dance with us before she peacefully departed for the Rainbow Bridge. We will always miss our adored and cherished beautiful old girl. Many memories of Raven are now held so dear -- our hearts ache so fondly......

Rainbow Bridge LogoAnd a tribute from our friends at the Memorial Garden:

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the "Rainbow Bridge" because of its many colors. Just this side of the "Rainbow Bridge" there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass. When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food, water, and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other.

There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth, so each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up! The nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring! And this one suddenly runs from the group!

You have been seen! When you and your special friend meet, you take him or her, in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again. You look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.

Then you cross the "Rainbow Bridge" together, never again to be separated.
