Labrador Retrievers
Field and Show Lineage

Located 1 mile outside Plains,Montana (sixty-six miles NW of Missoula), on five acres for our gang of Labradors to romp.
Below, vista toward Northeast off our deck. Views other directions equally as expansive for watching weather
patterns slip through this narrow valley from the West.

Valleyview

Best known breeder of Labradors in all of MT.

Shot protocal has changed per leading Vet. in canine diseases. Check it out.

Dr.Jean Dodds' Recommended Vaccination Schedule.

Her site is write protected, therefore, no link can be provided on this site. Type in her name on a search engine, site options will come up.

All my puppies will now be held longer per these changes.

Current puppies open for homes: Two black males.
Parents are "Moe" and "Tootsie". Both are decendants of CH. Nipntuck "Twinkle" In Our Eyes.
Over these many years, solid health has continued with most living long lives, have had
fine easy going temperaments, ability to work in many areas, not just in the field.
Than I got into doing a bit of showing with Twinkle who I co-owned with her breeder.

There are new puppies about of all three colors and sexes.
They will be the only puppies for this year of 2012, open to depart for new homes, early March.

Vallivue Marcin Touch Down "HAWK"

Hawk
Hawk is one very funny guy, highly curious and does he ever love water!
During hot days, more than once I'll find him sitting in drinking water pan,
which he prefers over a wading pool in back yard.

Hawk's full sister with birds she retrieved, 10-11-08, 22 months old. Some question whether
Labradors from show lines do well in the field, proof presented they sure have great capability!
From Hershey's owner: "Hershey really did very well and was so excited to bring a
greenhead all the way to me from the middle of the pond. She watched Brandi and then the 2
of them double teamed a cripple that was running across the ground. Spectacular hunt!"

After a 6 month quarantine by English law, Aussie and Sydney (of Gig Harbor,WA.)
finally flew over "The Pond" to be reunited with their owners now living in London.
Sydney is Luke's full sister. Aussie is an "Auntie" to Snazzy.
Aussie and Sydney's had stayed a spell at Luke and Lily's home.
Left, all on alert in hope of a nibble. Right, exploring Linda and Larry's yard.
All went well for their travels!

Augustus

JIA 4th of July

"Marcin Augustus" on summer vacation, Whidbey Island, WA. where he's been
swimming, getting a handle on diving off a dock. His owners John and Ingrid attend U of M., Missoula.
Don't we love the 4th of July attire, esp. head gear!

A very special moment, phone call from Elizabeth in Polson, MT. to tell me what a
great puppy she and husband got from me. Than she e-mailed a photo of "Bob" with their son, Avery, who is autistic."
"Bob is such an amazing dog. He is being trained for
our son and is currently working with a trainer. Bob has been more than a blessing to our family and we
can't thank you enough for this great dog. It is like he and Avery were meant to be together.
Your dog has sure made a difference in this little boy's life."

Health Guaranteed-Veterinarian Endorsed

Hip joints, elbows, x-rayed for soundness, scored by either
The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA), Penn-Hip
ratings compared against others of same breed or Wind-Morgan
which is multipal (all major) joint readings for Labradors specifically.

WHY are joints checked? To be sure they are free of dysplasia, which brings lameness.
Joint reviews are spendy, running $350 to $475, yet, oh so vital.
Getting a puppy from stock without joint clearances...RISKY!
Surgical correction can be done, cost $2,500 per hip joint. In severe cases, a dog must be put down.
"Back-Yard-Breeders, those who breed so children can see a litter born, for "education", or believe
they will earn extra money have little regard for keeping a breed sound, are barely
above PUPPY MILLS, as in, puppies from PET STORES, the worst of the worst places to purchase a puppy!!
NO Clearances, NO Guarantee, puppies are often riddled with health issues leading to high Vet. bills!

Eyes rated by OPTIGEN, which is DNA testing for PRA,
Progressive Retinal Atrophy which causes early blindness.
And by annual CERF reviews.

Labradors with show backgrounds DO hunt and point!!
Those who claim they have developed "pointing" Labradors
do not know, nor understand the history of the breed. As the Labrador was
developed it was noted they had natural instincts to point.
English Lords of Manors who hunted wanted a breed for each
duty, so Spanials flushed, Pointers pointed etc. When Labradors
pointed, attempt was made to breed this trait "out" of the Labrador.
Many good lines of the breed held ability to point, simple as that!

As for "Silver Labradors"
Quote from a Canadian geneticist who has done a lot of research/publishing on coat color in dogs:
"The Weimaraner is an example of a brown dog with a diluted coat color. This dog is most commonly
seen as the short-haired variety on the right, but there is also a long-haired variety shown below.
Although Little refered to the Weimaraner as diluted brown, most people call this dog the "grey ghost".
Most Weimaraners are b/b at the brown locus and therefore Little was right again! He also referred
to them as "d/d" at the dilute locus. Some slate grey dogs resulted from breeding a Weimaraner colored
dog to a black dog occur, suggesting this diluter gene is capable of diluting both brown to the Weimaraner
pale brown color and black to a slate grey."
Her web site: http://homepage.usask.ca/~schmutz/dogcolors.html
The Labrador, as a BREED, is not known to have the dilute gene.
If individual dogs carry the dilution gene, it is because somewhere in their pedigree, there has been
interbreeding with a dog that carries the "dd" gene, such as the Weimeraner.........
Does this help you understand better silver? Last comment from above text, cut, because of firm wording.
After reading above, it should be rather clear..."Silver's" are a mixed breed.

Many photos were graciously provided by their proud owners!
You'll see these happy, beautiful canines waggin' their tails and a hoppin'
to music all over this Web site. Please wander around, enjoy!
There are LOTS OF PICTURES of my current & past Labradors, their off-spring.

MARCIN PUPPIES
Puppies from the Magnum Glacier Litter
A VERY favorite litter!
"The "Magnum/Glacier 5 of 1997"
We are "Christos" of RI., "Toby" of CA., "Kaycie" of FL.,
"Feather Rose" of OR., and "Elmo" of MA.

Great sadness came recently, Elmo passed Feb. 2009. What his owner Kevin wrote about Elmo.
This past Friday night Shannon and I made the most difficult decision of our lives.
We had to say good bye and help Elmo, our best friend of 12 years into the beyond.
Elmo's fight with mastocytotic cancer took a turn for the worse two weeks ago and he was admitted
to Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston. Two days of tests and treatments at this world class facility resulted
in the conclusion that he would not recover from the attack. He rested comfortably at home until Friday,
when it was obvious the pain he was experiencing had escalated beyond our ability to manage it.
Since his passing we have been reflecting on the relationship shared with the most magnificent example of a friend that
anyone will ever find.
We have all known good dogs, Oscar and Ernie, our other two Labs are good dogs.
Elmo was an exceptional dog. It did not matter what it was: working a field for pheasants, going for a jog
or lounging around the house, Elmo put his whole heart and soul into everything he did.
He was present, focused and intent about life. Every little thing was the most important
thing to him, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant.
Elmo taught us more about being good people than all of our human mentors, combined.
We know that Elmo has touched many of your lives and we hope that you will remember him for the great dog that he was.
Kevin and Shannon

Hannah and I flew to Boston from Seattle for that breeding....amen for AK air miles! What a splendid trip that was!

These are two very special boys!

Loved, adored...missed he shall always be.

A Little MARCIN HISTORY

RAVEN as foundation bitch had ASHLEY.
From ASHLEY, MARGO arrived. MARGO had TAR.
Two pups from TAR's 1st litter, SNOOF & BABE
shown on the 1998 attractions page.
Although these girls were black, all carried yellow
recessive which brought bi-colored litters when bred
to a yellow from lines introduced into my program in 1991:
Circle K's BEAU as stud. Beau was also bred
to girls: Circle K's TAFFY, CAROLINA & MAGNOLIA.
BEAU to MAGNOLIA brought stud of
six years, MARCIN MAGNUM.
These yellows from grand old lines such as Sandylands
started early 1940's, England. Boradors & Muskeluge US.

Incorporation of successful field lines to winning
show lines my goal, a balanced all purpose Labrador.
Into 25th yr., vision accurate: STRONG workers with TRUE
to the breed, MILD willing to please temperament.
AND...SO very critical, robust HEALTH on all accounts!!

A FEW WORDS from MY Current TROUPES
Icy, Tootsie, Cookie, T-Two, Slick, Henry, Moe, Molly and rescuse boy Max.

chair where in shot below Mandy managed to wiggle in to use Twinkle as a pillow.)

Questions gladly answered by our owner if you e-mail her.
She knows an awful lot about us Labradors!
We assure you, we are spoiled...so are our puppies!
It does matter tremendously how pups are raised;
lots of human attention in early weeks is vital
to development of sound adult Labradors.
Also critical to healthy puppies: parents and ancestors
with joint reviews and eye clearances.
Some of our famous ancestors are listed here: ancestors.
Proudly we brag, folks in 39 states have our
pups or relations.
By the way, eighteen families have two MARCIN LABRADORS
from different litters and five families
have two pups from same litter!

Great pride we have that Tracker's full sister has an un-canny ability to read
impending seizures of an undetermined nature that come to her owner. By Susie's warning,
her owner is able to relax, let these seizures flow until over.
A son of Twinkle's, TJ, is a partner to a handicapped person, providing various assistance.
And an Elmo-Hannah daughter is also in service to a physically challenged young lady.
All three live in the Salt Lake City area.

Please visit Raven's memorial page to see the sweetie who hooked our owner on Labradors!

As it's said, "If it's not a Labrador Retriever, it's just a dog".

Marcin Hello My Name is "Fred"
Twinkle & Fred
Photo of Fred

fred&twinkle

See Miss Twinkle "CH Nipntuck Twinkle in Our Eyes"
on her very own page.
Without question winter of '09 I didn't expect her to suvive another MT. winter.
She left us 10-28-10. Thirteen yrs. 1 mo. 13 days. It remains strange she's not around, will for a long time.
Having her all those years was a grand experience on many accounts. What a fabulous Labrador she was!!

FRED is Hannah's sire, look what his sister accomplished!!

Of special note, Fred's full sister, "Marcin Shady Brook",
for a time, successfully ran in field trials events.
During 1999 Brook qualified in enough NAHRA tests to
earn Spokane, WA. Bird Dog Association's High Point Started Retriever award.

2001 Brook was bred to FC-AFC LUCYANA'S FAST WILLIE.
Three off-spring moved along nicely in their field training.
A FEW of Willies credits.....1992 High Point Derby Dog.
1997 NATIONAL OPEN RETRIEVER CHAMPION.
1998 High Point Amateur.

Photo of Brook
Here's "Marcin Shady Brook"
Isn't she smashing?
By the way, her eyes are not yellow, that's a result of camera flash glare.

"Marcin Kiki's One and Only" (Buck) left as a youngster,
right, Buck at 5 years. Buck will be 14 yrs. Feb. of 2012 and still strumming along well.> Sire: Marcin Magnum. Dam: Brawner Creek Marcin "Kiki"...Glacier's sister.

Buck is grandsire to Marcin Scene Stealer, "Snazzy Lou".

Ah, Yep...that's "Buck" & his owner....Santa Claus!
