Thoughts on Thoughts…
Last week Les Wood wrote a letter attacking Suzanne Jacobson, accusing her of using erroneous facts to make her point. Using some flawed arguments and stating opinion as fact, he attempted to discredit Suzanne and bolster his own bombast.
Les says our "government" schools, I thought they were "public" schools, are responsible (and successful) for dumbing down the intelligence of our children and grandchildren. Doesn't say anything about the parent's role in their education or lack thereof or mention the fact that the schools he's dissing are prime recruiting grounds for our military.
Next Les rambles on to say that the only low-income kids dying in the world are right here in America.
I think he is even saying that if he was a low-income kid, his odds of staying alive are better in Iraq.
Les contradicts himself, previously saying that our children have been dumbed down, and now saying that the average intelligence of members of the armed forces is much higher than ever before.
If they aren't killed in Iraq or Afghanistan, they have a higher income potential. Here I was thinking that those kids going to college and getting a BA or PHD were the ones getting those high paying jobs.
Thanks for setting them/us straight Les. Question, Les - how many rich kids are in our military and serving in a live fire zone? Or how many rich adults?, if you can't find any info on those rich kids swelling the enlistment ranks.
Ok Les, we didn't invade Iraq under false pretenses…and if we did it was Clinton's fault??? Seems you know good king George (GWB) so well that you can even speak for him…"he assumed slick Willy knew what he was doing,…". Sorry, Less - I don't buy the rapist comment - seems like it was a mutual consent liaison. "We were attacked by ragheads…", Les you speak language that could be judged hate speak. I'll wager that not all Arabs are evil or fanatical, in fact, probably like most Americans, they just want to be left to live in peace, to be able to raise a family and enjoy life.
We attack Iraq because they are the "enemy", when most of the 9/11 hijackers hailed from Saudi Arabia? When do we bomb the Saudi's? and invade and occupy their country??
Everything is looking good in Iraq and almost "100% (???) of our soldiers and their officers agree that Iraq is stabilizing nicely." A CNN poll result, no doubt? Oil has nothing to do with our being in Iraq.
I've got to stop smiling, I can't believe you wrote this, not seriously, you really are writing satire, right?
I'll play along though and continue…"we have all the oil we need right here…", again it's someone's fault that we have to get oil from sources all over the world, other than in our national forests and wilderness areas. According to Les the folks stopping that rape and pillage are also committing treason. The best renewable energy source, according to Les, would be nuclear power plants. Obviously, nuclear pollution is not something we really need to take seriously.
"We are at war…", yes Les, we Americans are always at war with someone, somewhere, for some reason, just about any reason will do. We should live in fear, because everyone is out to get us. Even our enemies, with college degrees, are just so jealous of what we have that they will fly planes into our corporate towers, willingly sacrificing their lives, so they can take our women and subjugate them. Makes a lot of sense. I'm going to start watching over my shoulder for traitors, anti-Americans, enemy rag heads, etc.
So, Les, I ask you… about this world you have created in your own mind… Are you an idiot or just plain stupid? Shame on you, your choice to be ignorant is just that…and it doesn't have to be that way.
Try getting your facts from somewhere other than Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck…walk on the wild side and read "A People's History of the United States", Howard Zinn, for example. At least then, you might be smart enough to know when you are being lied to. Glenn Ferren Superior
