Happy spring!  March was another busy month for Gear Up.  

Jean Matt from the Salish Kootenai Tribal Forestry Department came in and presented to the 5-8 graders.  He presented on the various responsibilities of the Tribal Forestry Department, types of jobs, job duties and the heavy equipment needed for each job. Jean also invited the students to visit the greenhouse in April.  Jean emphasized to the students the importance of setting goals and following their dreams no matter  what obstacles may stand in their way. 

Joey Jayne, Recruiter for the Nursing program at SKC, also came in to visit with the students.   She asked the students what careers they were interested in explained what courses they would need to take to fulfill the requirements for each profession.

In April, the students will visit the University of Montana-Western in Dillon and the College of Technology in Missoula (if time allows). They will also continue to work through MCIS.
