Mrs. North’s 5th-8th Grade News
Happy March!
Welcome Spring! Thank
you, students, parents and guardians, for making testing week run smoothly.
The students worked hard, were rested and were at school every day.
5/6
Grades
In Language Arts, the students have been reviewing and
applying skills such as, sequence of events, compare and contrast, making
inferences, identifying problem and solution, and author’s purpose and
point of view. They have been
working really hard and are as excited about Spring as I am!
In World
History, the 5th and 6th graders are studying Europe in the late Middle Ages
and on Thursdays, they are researching news around the world for current
events. In addition, the
students are getting very good at note taking using the Cornell Note method.
7/8
Grades
In Language Arts, the students are working through the
book The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
Thankfully, there is an end in sight.
Once we finish the story, the students will choose and complete a
final project and also watch the movie.
Next week, the students will be working on writing a narrative for
the end of the year writing assessment.
For Geography, the students have been studying South
and Southeast Asia. They are also researching current events in Japan and
Libya.
Have a great Month!
Mrs. North
