Dixon
School District
&
The third and fourth graders have just finished their
unit on plants with seed journals! We
collected seeds from the playground and brought some seeds from home.
Then we chose our favorites and created a seed journal, complete with
sketches of a few of our favorite seeds, life cycles, stages of seed growth, and
the three things a plant needs to grow and survive.
In math the fourth graders have completed their unit on place value.
They can tell us almost everything about a number and its digits!
Now they are decomposing numbers (taking them apart) and practicing
multiple digit addition and problem solving.
Third graders are finishing up their unit on place value and will have a
test coming up next week. So, we
will be working hard to review all we have learned before the test!
Our focus in social studies for the next two weeks is, of course, the
elections. We will be discussing
the very basics of government and exploring whom we would like to vote for.
Our class will be holding our own elections for president, along with the
rest of the United States, on November 4th.
Additionally, we will take a look at American citizenship and see if we
can pass a citizenship test!
